BLOOMINGTON, IND. - John Clay ran for 134 yards and a touchdown, Montee Ball scored two TDs and the Badgers held off the Hoosiers' fourth-quarter rally for a 31-28 victory Saturday.
The Badgers dominated on the ground again after rushing for 441 yards last year in Bloomington. Clay was the workhorse in the first half when Wisconsin built a 24-14 lead. He did not touch the ball in the second half after suffering a concussion.
Ball finished with 27 carries for 115 yards. "That's Wisconsin football," Ball said. "Run the football and just beat your opponents up, and that's what we did."
But Indiana twice got within a field goal in the fourth quarter. Terrance Turner's 6-yard TD catch made it 24-21, and after Ball scored on a 3-yard run to make it 31-21, Indiana's Trea Burgess answered with a 2-yard TD run with 4:02 left. But Indiana, which has lost three conference games by a total of seven points, never got the ball back.
