The junior quarterback had a career day, passing for 416 yards and five touchdowns. He completed 19 of 31 passes and averaged 21.9 yards per completion.

DEFENSIVE MVP: Garrett Brown, Gophers

The defensive tackle had seven total tackles and three for loss as the Gophers held Michigan State to 10 first-half rushing yards.

TURNING POINT

With the Gophers leading 35-34, Duane Bennett hauled in the carom after tight end Nick Tow-Arnett took a wicked hit, and sprinted to the end zone to finish a 59-yard scoring play for a 42-34 lead.
