Gophers women's basketball team to hold annual Hoopla event Saturday

The Gophers women's basketball team will hold its annual Hoopla celebration Saturday at Williams Arena. Doors open at 10 a.m., with the team introductions set for noon.

Hoopla is free and open to the public. Fans will have the chance to win $10,000 in a half-court shot challenge. Before the Gophers take the court for a scrimmage, a special free-throw contest will be held between Gophers alumni and local celebrities, a team headlined by Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus.

• Ben Pisani shot a two-round total of 136 and was tied for sixth place among individuals at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Monday in Fairfax, Calif. Stephen Hale of California led with a 132. The Gophers men's team was seventh at the 15-team event with a 563 total, 18 shots behind leader California.

• The Gophers volleyball team (14-4, 5-1 Big Ten) fell one spot to No. 6 in this week's AVCA poll after being swept by No. 1 Ohio State.
