Teams going opposite ways meet

Preview: The Gophers (15-5, 4-3 Big Ten), who have won three of their past four games, are coming off a 90-65 victory over Wisconsin at Williams Arena on Thursday. The Gophers limited the Badgers to 32 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent (3-for-20) from three-point range. Iowa (15-4, 3-3), ranked No. 20, has lost three of four games this month after opening the season with a 15-1 record. On Tuesday, the Hawkeyes lost at Nebraska, 74-65. The Hawkeyes were 0-for-7 from three-point range and have made just three of 23 attempts in their past two games.

Players to watch: Gophers freshman Destiny Pitts had her team-leading fifth double-double (15 points and 11 rebounds) on Thursday. Sophomore Taiye Bello had 13 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Iowa C Megan Gustafson, a 6-3 junior, is averaging 23.8 points and 12.9 rebounds. Gustafson, who scored a career-high 37 on Jan. 13 against Purdue, had 29 points and 18 rebounds against Nebraska on Tuesday. It was her NCAA-leading 18th double-double of the year. F Chase Coley, a 6-3 senior from Minneapolis Washburn, is averaging 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Numbers: Iowa coach Lisa Bluder is one of 10 active Division I coaches with more than 700 career victories. In her 34th season as a coach — 18th at Iowa — she has a 714-348 record.
