Game recap

OFFENSIVE MVP

Alex Hornibrook, Wisconsin

The often-maligned quarterback was efficient Saturday, completing 15 of 19 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns. With the Gophers keeping running back Jonathan Taylor in check early, Hornibrook spread the ball to six receivers, keeping Minnesota guessing.

DEFENSIVE MVP

Ryan Connelly, Wisconsin

The junior linebacker from Eden Prairie made his presence known all game long, finishing with six tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. His first sack of Demry Croft for a 12-yard loss ruined good field position for the Gophers in the second quarter, and his second sack for a loss of 12 yards moved the Gophers from the Wisconsin 35 to the 47.
