Gophers take on ACC's least-regarded team

Preview: For the first meeting between the two teams since the 2008-09 season, both are coming off victories on Thursday. The Gophers (3-0) defeated Virginia Commonwealth 108-63 while Boston College (2-1), which was picked to finish last in the ACC preseason poll, held on for a 55-52 victory over Fordham at home. The Eagles led by 12 with 3 minutes, 23 seconds to play. The Gophers have won both meetings between the two.

Players to watch: Gophers freshman F/G Destiny Pitts had 20 points and 12 rebounds and G Kenisha Bell had 20 points and 10 assists on Thursday. Pitts is averaging 13.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while Bell is averaging 18 points and 8.7 assists per game. Eagles freshman G Milan Bolden-Morris is averaging 14.3 points and 4.7 rebounds. Sophomore F Georgia Pineau, one of two returning starters, is averaging 10.3 points and 9.7 rebounds. Reserve C/F Katie Quandt is a senior from Lakeville South.

Numbers: The 108 points by the Gophers on Thursday were their most since scoring 109 vs. SE Louisiana on Nov. 14, 2014. The Gophers scored 107 in their season-opening victory over Lehigh last Saturday. A victory over the Eagles would give the Gophers their fourth consecutive 4-0 season start. Boston College was 9-21 last season — its sixth consecutive losing season.
