First road game takes U east

Preview: Seven Gophers scored in double figures in a season-opening 107-73 victory over Lehigh on Saturday. Rhode Island opened its season on Friday with an 81-64 victory over UMass-Lowell. The Rams, who were 6-23 last season, were picked to finish 13th in the Atlantic 10. In the teams' only previous meeting, the Gophers defeated the Rams 90-78 on Dec. 1, 1979.

Players to watch: Gophers G Carlie Wagner scored 22 points on Saturday to surpass 1,600 career points (eighth all-time for Minnesota with 1,619). G Gadiva Hubbard made a career-high six three-pointers on seven attempts and scored 22 points. G Elemy Colome, who sat out last season after transferring from James Madison, had 19 points, nine assists and five steals in her Rams debut. G Abby Streeter, a true freshman, had 17 points.

Numbers: The Gophers' seven turnovers on Saturday were their second-fewest under coach Marlene Stollings. The Rams have had just one winning season since 2004-05.
