At least three more Western Michigan assistant coaches are expected to follow head coach P.J. Fleck and offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca to the Gophers, a person familiar with the plan confirmed Wednesday.

The next wave of WMU assistants coming to the Gophers is expected to include Matt Simon, Brian Callahan and Rob Wenger.

Simon is an Farmington native who played wide receiver at Northern Illinois when Fleck was NIU's receivers coach. Simon went on to coach at St. Thomas and Rutgers before joining Fleck's staff at Western Michigan in 2014. Under Simon's tutelage, WMU wide receiver Corey Davis set a new FBS career record for receiving yards.

Callahan coached the offensive line at Western Michigan. Fleck has already filled that role for the Gophers with Ohio State's Ed Warinner, but Callahan could become Minnesota's new tight ends coach.

Wenger was special teams coordinator for Western Michigan and is expected to handle that role for the Gophers.

Fleck told WCCO (830-AM) on Sunday that he plans to have his coaching staff picked by Thursday.
