BIMINI, Bahamas – The Gophers women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday, falling to Georgia 70-58 at the Junkanoo Jam.

Kenisha Bell scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half for the Gophers (4-1), who will play North Carolina on Friday. The Tar Heels (4-1) lost to South Florida 83-55.

Sophomore forward Caliya Robinson scored a career-high 30 points for Georgia (4-1), which improved to 2-0 all-time against the Gophers. The teams' only other meeting was in 1982.

The Gophers shot just 19-for-70 from the field (27 percent) but led 52-51 in the fourth quarter before the Lady Bulldogs closed the game with a 16-4 run.

Leading 17-14 after the first quarter, the Gophers scored just seven points on 3-for-19 shooting in the second quarter and trailed at halftime 36-24. Georgia was 10-for-14 from the floor in the second.

The Gophers began the second half with a 12-2 run, and by the end of the third quarter they had closed the gap to 47-42.

Freshman Gadiva Hubbard scored 16 points for the Gophers, and Carlie Wagner added 14.

The Gophers' shooting woes extended to the three-point line, where they made only three of their 21 attempts.
