Playoff predictions

Chip Scoggins knows what's going to happen in the season's final three games:

National semifinal 1

Peach Bowl Alabama vs. Clemson

Dec. 31 in Atlanta

Yes, this would be a rematch of last season's national championship game, which would require a lot of things breaking right to happen. But please, please, pretty please let us get Act II of Deshaun Watson vs. Nick Saban's defense.

Winner: Alabama

National semifinal 2

Fiesta Bowl Oklahoma vs. Michigan

Dec. 31 in Glendale, Ariz.

If Jim Harbaugh can work his magic and develop a competent quarterback, the Wolverines could be scary, thanks to one of college football's best defenses. Oklahoma has a dynamite QB in Baker Mayfield, but the Sooners must show they can handle expectations.

Winner: Oklahoma

National championship

Alabama vs. Oklahoma

Jan. 9 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The Crimson Tide lost a boatload of talent to the NFL, but Saban doesn't rebuild, he replenishes. Oklahoma has something special in Mayfield, but it won't be enough. Repeating as champion in any sport requires a bit of luck, but we're sticking with the Tide until proven otherwise.

Winner: Alabama
