Gophers' volleyball gameday

7 P.M. VS. Ohio State • Sports Pavilion • WEB: BTN-Plus

Gophers update: A victory in the regular-season home finale would give the fourth-ranked Gophers (24-4) at least a share of their second Big Ten championship. They won their first in 2002. They remain atop the league standings with a 16-2 record after last Saturday's five-set loss at No. 15 Purdue, which ended Minnesota's school-record 15-match winning streak in conference play. The Gophers are 12-0 at the Sports Pavilion. Senior outside hitters Daly Santana and Toni Alugbue will be honored at their final regular-season home match; Santana leads the Big Ten with 466 kills, and her 32 service aces rank third. The Gophers, who end the regular season Saturday at Indiana, are No. 3 in the final NCAA Ratings Percentage Index — before Sunday night's NCAA selection show — one of the criteria used to determine the field for the NCAA tournament.

Ohio State update: The No. 16 Buckeyes (22-8, 11-7 Big Ten) have been inconsistent after starting the Big Ten season 7-1 — the loss was 3-1 to the Gophers in their conference opener. They have lost six of their past 10 matches, winning only one set in those six defeats. Freshman outside hitter Audra Appold was named Big Ten freshman of the week after averaging 5.57 kills per set in two road matches last week. Senior outside hitter Elizabeth Campbell has 402 kills this season, fifth in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are 7-5 in road matches this season.
