Gophers at a glance: Minnesota lost the rebound battle for its fourth consecutive game Friday when the Gophers were outrebounded by Missouri State 40-34. The Bears went to the line 37 times, making 26 of their free throws after 22 Gophers fouls nearly cost Minnesota the game. Missouri State trimmed an 18-point deficit to three with 11 minutes left and hung within four with 1:20 to go, but guard Kevin Dorsey hit a pair of free throws with 1 second left, and blocked a three-pointer on the other end. Joey King hit five three-pointers in the first eight minutes and the Gophers finished with 13 three-pointers. King has scored 18 points or more in three of rthe Gophers' four games.

Texas Tech at a glance: The Red Raiders led by as many as 13 with 3:23 left in the first half and were in control for most of the game, but they were forced to scrap it out in crunch time after Mississippi State launched a 17-7 run to take a four-point lead with just over nine minutes to play. …Senior guard Devaugntah Williams has led the team in scoring in all three of its games. He is averaging 18 points.
