Air Force ends 23-year drought vs. Tigers

• AIR FORCE 4, COLORADO COLLEGE 1: The Falcons scored three goals in the second period and ended a 23-year, 30-game winless drought against Colorado College by beating the Tigers in a nonconference game Friday night in Colorado Springs, Colo. Freshman Paul Weisgarber gave Air Force (13-0-0) a 1-0 lead in the first period, and Josh Frider, Mike Phillipich and Brett Nylander added goals in the second period. Air Force had not beaten Colorado College (8-4-3) since Nov. 9, 1985, going 0-29-1 in the rivalry since then.

• NORTH DAKOTA 7, CORNELL 3: Matt Frattin's hat trick lifted the Sioux over the Big Red in a nonconference game in Grand Forks, N.D. Frattin also had an assist for North Dakota (5-7-1), and Chay Genoway and Evan Trupp each added one goal and three assists. Riley Nash had one goal and one assist to lead Cornell (4-1-2), which was outshot 36-24.

• WISCONSIN 3, MICHIGAN STATE 1: Ben Grotting, John Mitchell and Matt Thurber scored for the Badgers, who outshot the Spartans by more than a 4-to-1 margin in a nonconference game in Madison, Wis. All three are members of the Badgers' second line, which produced seven points. Wisconsin outshot the Spartans 53-12, and Jeff Lerg made a season-high 50 saves for the Spartans (4-9-2), who have lost seven in a row.

• MSU MANKATO 2, BOWLING GREEN 2: Fourth-line winger Kai Kantola scored two goals in the second period, erasing a 2-0 Mankato lead and helping the Falcons (5-7-3) tie the Mavericks (7-3-3) in Bowling Green, Ohio. Mick Berge and Geoff Irwin scored for Mankato.

• DENVER 6, COLGATE 1: Tyler Ruegsegger scored two goals and led the Pioneers (8-5-1) over the Raiders (4-5-2) in Denver. Anthony Maiani had three assists for Denver, which outshot Colgate 39-30.

• BEMIDJI STATE 3, MICHIGAN TECH 0: Matt Dalton made 23 saves to earn a shutout and lead the Beavers (4-7-0) over the Huskies (2-10-1) in Bemidji, Minn. Matt Francis, Matt Read and Jamie MacQueen scored for the Beavers.
