Five (or more) Heisman hopefuls

Poor Urban Meyer. The Ohio State coach faced a tough dilemma in choosing a quarterback this season. Should he pick Heisman Trophy candidate 1, Heisman candidate 2 or Heisman candidate 3? Alas, we'll just go with a blanket "Ohio State quarterback" as one Heisman candidate because Meyer could draw a name out of a hat at this point. Here are four other contenders for the coveted award.

Trevone Boykin, TCU

His campaign starts in Minneapolis against a tough Gophers defense in the opener. TCU's fast-break offense suits his skill set perfectly.

Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State

Ask Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon about this guy. Elliott shredded those defenses the final three games last season for 696 yards rushing.

Nick Chubb, Georgia

Went from Todd Gurley's backup to star as a freshman. Posted eight consecutive 100-yard rushing games after becoming starter, the first Bulldog to do so since some guy named Herschel Walker.

Cody Kessler, USC

Threw 39 touchdown passes compared to only five interceptions last season. He could be a finalist with similar production and a strong season by the Trojans.
