The Gophers athletics department continues to receive improving grades across the board — and in some cases perfect scores — in the NCAA's annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) report.

In the latest report, released Wednesday, all 25 Gophers teams cleared the score required to avoid penalties, and 19 teams showed improvement.

The most recent multiyear scores, which include data for the four school years up to 2013-14, show all 25 Gophers programs above the 930 cutline. Eight Minnesota programs had perfect 1,000 multiyear scores.

"The APR numbers announced today are a testament to the hard work of those student-athletes who work as hard away from competition as they do during it, and the dedication of our staff, who live our mission by putting our student-athletes in position to succeed in life," Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague said in an e-mail.

Last week, the NCAA recognized the programs that posted multiyear APR scores in the top 10 percent of their sport. For the Gophers, that list included baseball, men's cross-country, men's gymnastics, men's tennis, men's track (indoor and outdoor), wrestling, women's golf, women's gymnastics, soccer, softball, women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball.

For the third consecutive year, the Gophers football team posted a single-year score of 994, tying the program record. The football team continued to raise its multiyear score and registered a 975, which improved in each of the past three years. In 2009, under then-coach Tim Brewster, the Gophers lost three scholarships when it posted a 915 multiyear APR.

"Matching a program record for single-year APR score and continually raising our multiyear score each of the past four years is an extraordinary accomplishment," Teague said.

The annual APR report offers a snapshot of each program's academic success, with a formula based on the percentage of athletes who remain academically eligible and stay in school. The latest NCAA multiyear numbers examine the school years from 2010-11 through 2013-14.
