ThirÂteen athÂletÂics teams at the University of Minnesota have reÂceived public recÂogÂniÂtion awards for their AcÂaÂdemÂic Progress Rates.
The awards are givÂen each year to colÂleÂgiate programs scorÂing in the top 10 percent naÂtionÂalÂly in each sport based on their most reÂcent multiyear APR.
Only four schools, none of them public inÂstiÂtuÂtions like Minnesota, had more teams earnÂing APR awards.
Six of the honored GoÂphers teams were in men's sports: baseÂball, cross-counÂty, gymÂnasÂtics, tenÂnis, track and field and wrestling.
Seven were women's sports teams: golf, gymÂnasÂtics, socÂcer, softÂball, swimÂming, tenÂnis and volÂleyÂball.
"To place more than half of our programs in the top 10 percent in the naÂtion is truÂly someÂthing of which we can all be proud," GoÂphers athÂletÂic diÂrecÂtor Norwood Teague said in a stateÂment.
