U men's gameday

6 p.m. VS. No. 6 Wisconsin • Williams Arena • ESPN, 1500-AM

Gophers at a glance: The Gophers (17-12, 6-10 Big Ten) are coming off their biggest victory of the season, and perhaps the biggest of coach Richard Pitino's tenure at Minnesota, after taking down Michigan State 96-90 in overtime in East Lansing last Thursday. JUCO transfer Carlos Morris scored 20 points off the bench and hit a pair of three-pointers in the final 28 seconds — including one with three seconds left in regulation — to erase a six-point deficit and send the game to overtime. In the extra session, the Gophers got to the line 20 times and made 14, and outrebounded the Spartans 7-4. Senior guard Andre Hollins, after shooting just over 26 percent for two games, got back to his scoring ways with 17 points. Junior Joey King matched that number. The teams met only 12 days ago, when the Gophers fell 63-53 in Madison. Morris, Nate Mason and DeAndre Mathieu led the Gophers with 11 points in that game, which featured only one Minnesota free-throw attempt (a miss) to Wisconsin's 14.

Wisconsin at a glance: The No. 6 Badgers (26-3, 14-2) claimed at least a share of the Big Ten title — for the first time since 2008 — after outlasting Michigan State 68-61 at home Sunday. This came after the Badgers lost only their second conference game, 59-53 at Maryland. All-America candidate center Frank Kaminsky scored a season-high 31 points vs MSU, causing Spartans coach Tom Izzo to declare he hadn't been so impressed with a league player since Purdue's Glenn Robinson. Wisconsin led by as many as 22 points before MSU's 52.9 percent three-point shooting made it close. The Badgers finished a perfect 9-0 in the Big Ten at home. Point guard Traevon Jackson has missed 12 consecutive games after breaking his right foot in mid-January and isn't expected to be back on Thursday.
