Mavericks build lead on Michigan Tech

• MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 4, MICHIGAN TECH 2: The No. 2 Mavericks (24-6-3, 20-3-3 WCHA) beat the No. 3 Huskies (24-8-2, 19-5-2) to open a three-point lead in the conference race into the last weekend. MSU Mankato now has 43 points, Tech 40. Carter Foguth's goal at 11:58 of the second period gave the Mavericks a 3-2 lead.

• Bemidji State 1, Ferris State 1 (OT), TIE: Kyle Bauman scored a goal in the second period and Michael Bitzer made 41 saves for the visiting Beavers (15-14-5, 11-10-5) in their tie with the Bulldogs (14-19-2, 11-14-1).

• MICHIGAN 5, WISCONSIN 2: J.T. Compher had a hat trick as the Wolverines (19-11, 11-5 Big Ten) beat visiting Wisconsin (4-22-4, 2-12-2) to take first place in the conference by three points over the Gophers. Compher's first two goals came on power plays, his third was an empty-netter. Ryan Wagner and Grant Besse scored for Wisconsin.

• OHIO STATE 5, PENN STATE 3: Tanner Fritz had a goal and two assists as the Buckeyes (11-17-2, 6-10) swept the Nittany Lions (16-12-4, 8-7-1) by the same score each night.

• NORTH DAKOTA 3, ST. CLOUD STATE 1: Connor Gaarder had a goal and an assists to lead No. 1 UND (24-6-3, 15-5-2 NCHC) over the visiting Huskies (15-16-1, 10-11-1). This win, coupled with Miami's 6-2 loss at Denver, clinches North Dakota at least a share of the Penrose Cup, given to the conference's regular-season champion.

• OMAHA 1, MINN. DULUTH 1 (OT), TIE: For the second consecutive night, the No. 8 Mavericks (17-10-5, 11-8-3-3) and the No. 6 Bulldogs (19-12-23, 11-8-3) tied 1-1 and Omaha got the extra point, winning the shootout on goals again by Jack Randolph and Austin Ortega.
