Glennis Werner Roseboom was named the College of St. Benedict's new athletic director on Wednesday. She will replace Carol Howe-Veenstra when she retires in June after 30 years in the Blazers' athletic department.

Werner Roseboom, a 1993 graduate of St. Benedict's, was the assistant general manager of an athletic club and spa in Colorado Springs, Colo., the past two years. Before that she was director of the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center for six years.

• Minnesota United FC and the other eight North American Soccer League teams will once again compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup this year. The NASL teams will enter the tournament in the third round, which will begin May 27.

• St. Cloud State junior forward Jonny Brodzinski, of Blaine, was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's co-player of the month for January along with Denver defenseman Joey LaLeggia. Brodzinski, whose brother Mike plays for the Gophers, had seven goals and six assists in 10 games.

• Tickets for the NCHC's Frozen Faceoff on March 20-21 at the Target Center have gone on sale. All-session tickets are $60 for the upper level, $130 for the lower level and available at AXS.com.

• Three Twin Cities tennis programs recently were awarded grants from the U.S. Tennis Association. Innercity Tennis Foundation in Minneapolis received $15,000, Tennis & Education Inc. $17,500 and St. Paul Urban Tennis $25,000.
