GOPHERS REPLAY

OHIO STATE 31, GOPHERS 24

The recap: The Buckeyes jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Briean Boddy-Calhoun created two turnovers that helped the Gophers pull even late in the first half. Ohio State went up 31-14 with 10:08 remaining but had to fend off a late comeback attempt by Minnesota.

What was learned: David Cobb rushed 27 times for 145 yards, but with two top receivers out — Drew Wolitarsky and Donovahn Jones — Mitch Leidner completed just seven of 19 passes for 85 yards, with two interceptions.

YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED:

• The Buckeyes had a streak of 29 consecutive drives without a three-and-out coming into the game. After going three-and-out on the first drive against the Gophers, the Buckeyes converted nine of their final 12 third-downs. The Gophers, meanwhile, were 5-for-14 on third down.

• At 15 degrees for kickoff, it was Ohio State's coldest game since at least 1964. And it was the Gophers' coldest game in six seasons at TCF Bank Stadium.

• Ohio State's all-world defensive end Joey Bosa had 2½ tackles for a loss, but Gophers sophomore right tackle Jonah Pirsig held his own against Bosa for much of the game.
