The Gophers women's golf team shot a school record 278 on Tuesday — the lowest 18-hole total by three shots — to tie for first in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown with San Diego State.

Minnesota's 1-under 869 also was the program's best total for a 54-hole tournament and the first time the Gophers ever finished below par.

Freshmen Celia Kuenster and Sabrine Garrison finished third and sixth, respectively. Kuenster closed with a 68 for a 4-under 212 total while Garrison shot a 67 for a 214. Those totals tied for the second and fourth best 54-hole scores in Gophers history.
