The Gophers women's team beat Wisconsin 203-95 on Friday in a Big Ten swimming and diving meet at the University Aquatic Center.

The Gophers were paced by the 400 medley relay of Tori Simenec, Kierra Smith, Rebecca Weiland and Lauren Votava. Their time of 3:40.88 is the fastest in the country so far.

Sophomore Daryl Turner won three individual events and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay, but the Gophers men's team lost to Wisconsin 153.5-146.5. Turner won the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

• The Gophers women's cross-country team finished 15th at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison. Junior Liz Berkholz led the Gophers, placing 38th in 20:34. The men's team placed 20th in the same meet, paced by junior Aaron Bartnik (24:11) who took 30th.

• Gophers freshman Caroline Ryba won twice to reach the Round of 16 in the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla. Two Minnesota doubles teams, Tereza Brichacova and Mehvish Safdar, and Aria Lambert and Maja Vujic both won their opening matches.
