Duluth – The top-ranked Gophers women's hockey team rallied from two goals down in the third period to tie Minnesota Duluth 3-3 after a scoreless overtime on Saturday in a WCHA game at Amsoil Arena.

The Bulldogs won the shootout 2-1 — on Katerina Mrazova's goal in the fourth round — for one extra point in the conference standings.

"I'm proud of our kids for coming back after we were down by two goals in the third to tie it up and get a point out of it," Gophers coach Brad Frost said, "but we played a good last two minutes of the second period and a good third period, and that's about it. … We have to show up and respond better after giving up a goal."

The Gophers had won 12 consecutive games against UMD.

Minnesota Duluth took a 3-1 lead at 3:46 of the third period on Michelle Lowenhielm's power-play goal. But the Gophers (3-0-1, 1-0-1 WCHA) dominated play much of the rest of the period, outshooting the Bulldogs 14-5 and scoring twice on goals by Meghan Lorence and Hannah Brandt, who also had a goal with 17 seconds left in the middle period.

Amanda Leveille, who shut out UMD 3-0 on Friday, had 25 saves for the Gophers, Kayla Black had 30 for the Bulldogs.

Emma Stauber and Jenna McParland scored goals early in the first and second period, respectively, to put UMD (1-3-2, 0-3-1) ahead 2-0.
