Bethel used a ball-control offense and suffocating defense en route to a 40-0 victory over St. Olaf on Saturday in Arden Hills.

The Royals (1-1), ranked No. 15 by d3football.com, limited the Oles (0-3) to four first downs and 85 yards.

On offense Marshall Klitzke rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and Brandon Marquardt rushed for 113 yards as the Royals rushed for 316 yards.

Erik Peterson passed for 151 yards and three touchdowns for the Royals. He threw two first-half touchdown passes as Bethel built a 33-0 lead.

Augsburg 42, Carleton 14: Ayrton Scott passed for 290 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown in leading the Auggies (2-1) over the Knights (1-2) in Northfield.

Gustavus 48, Hamline 19: Mitch Hendricks passed for 443 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Gusties (3-0) past the Pipers (2-1) in St. Peter, Minn.

Hendricks, who completed 31 of 43 passes, threw three first-half touchdown passes as the Gusties built a 34-13 halftime lead.

Brothers Gabriel and Matt Boyce combined for 18 receptions for 299 yards. Gabriel Boyce had 10 receptions for 143 yards while Matt Boyce had eight catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

Hamline's Austin Duncan rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
