Making history

The St. Thomas baseball and softball teams will compete in the NCAA Division III national tournaments this week, the first time in MIAC history one school is sending teams to both.

Softball

Site: Tyler, Texas

Opening round: St. Thomas faces Salisbury, Md., at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Record: 42-7

UST streak: The Tommies have won 26 of their past 28 games.

National titles: 2004 (vs. Moravian), 2005 (vs. Salisbury)

Baseball

Site: Appleton, Wis.

Opening round: St. Thomas faces defending champion

Linfield, Ore., at 10 a.m. Friday.
