The filet mignon matchup

St. Joseph’s vs. Connecticut

The winner likely faces Villanova.

St. Joe’s was a bubble team heading into the A-10 tournament and beat VCU for the title. UConn defeated Memphis and Cincinnati before falling to Louisville in the AAC championship.

Stick a fork in them?

The Bearcats had victories over Pitt, Nebraska, Louisville and Memphis (twice), but Harvard will be an intriguing matchup. Tommy Amaker’s team knocked off third-seeded New Mexico last year and is back in the tournament for the third year in a row.

Grade-A player

Shabazz Napier, Connecticut

The comparisons to former UConn point guard Kemba Walker are valid. Napier, a 6-1 senior, averages 17.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game and has the kind of moxie that can propel a team in this tournament.
