Continued: Minnesota Scene: Two U runners win Big Ten indoor titles

Moving up two places on the final day, the Gophers finished fourth with 378 points in the Big Ten men’s swimming and diving championships on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. They have finished fourth or better since 1989, a 26-year streak.

Derek Toomey of the Gophers was second in the 100-yard freestyle (42.68), Manny Pollard third in platform diving (394), C.J. Smith fourth in the 1,650 freestyle (14:56.18). The Gophers’ 400-freestyle relay also took fourth.


• The Gophers scored a season-high in beat Iowa State 197.250 to 193.725 in women’s gymnastics at the Sports Pavilion. Lindsay Mable won the all-around with a score of 39.625, a school record. The No. 12-ranked Gophers are 14-1.

• The Gophers won 5-2 over Wisconsin in men’s tennis at the Baseline Tennis Center.
