The Gophers women’s hockey team scored five goals in just over four minutes in the middle period in routing Bemidji State 10-0 on Friday in a WCHA game at Ridder Arena.
Hannah Brandt had two goals, including the first one, in the scoring frenzy, which expanded a 2-0 to 7-0 in only 4:12. It was the fastest five goals scored by Minnesota; the record was five in 6:23 in 2000.
Sarah Davis also had one of the five quick goals and a second goal later in the middle period.
Davis had two assists, too. Rachel Bona also had two goals and two assists while Kate Schipper had a goal and three assists and defenseman Rachel Ramsey had four assists.
The No. 1 Gophers (27-1-1, 21-1-1) took a 2-0 lead in the middle of the opening period. Schipper scored at 9:46 and, less than two minutes later, Kelly Terry got her 15th goal of the season.
The Gophers are 57-4-6 all-time against the Beavers and swept them 4-0 and 4-3 on the road in late October. Bemidji State (9-17-3, 6-15-2-1) is winless (0-6-1) in its past seven games.
Amanda Leveille made 21 saves for the Gophers in her 10th shutout of the season. Two Bemidji State goalies combined for 30 saves.
