It was the Bluejays’ first victory over the Gophers in seven meetings dating to Nov. 26, 1977. Last year they blew a 20-point lead in a double-overtime loss at Williams Arena.

Sarah Nelson had 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead the Bluejays (2-1), who committed only seven turnovers. Marissa Janning, a sophomore from Watertown-Mayer High School, had 10 points and six assists.

Zahui B. and Micaëlla Riché each had eight rebounds for the Gophers, who outrebounded Creighton 37-28.

Sari Noga contributed nine points and seven rebounds for the Gophers. With the Gophers trailing by 12 in the first half, Noga hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull the Gophers within six.

Creighton closed the first half with a 12-4 run to restore their lead to 14.

The Gophers outscored Creighton 22-15 over the first 14 minutes of the second half to pull within seven points (51-44) with 5:49 remaining but couldn’t get any closer.
