– Meghan Lorence scored two goals and Amanda Leveille posted her third shutout of the season as the Gophers women’s hockey team skated to a 4-0 WCHA victory over Bemidji State on Friday.

The victory was the 56th consecutive for the No. 1-ranked Gophers (7-0, 5-0 WCHA).

After a scoreless first period, the Gophers scored three goals — two in a four-minute span — in the second period.

Lorence opened the scoring at 3:06 on assists from Sarah Davis and Brook Garzone.

At 6:58, Rachel Ramsey extended the Gophers lead to 2-0, on assists from Kelsey Cline and Maryanne Menefee.

Katie Schipper, a freshman from Breck, scored her first collegiate goal with 1:31 remaining in the second period. The power-play goal was assisted by Ramsey and Rachael Bona.

The Gophers outshot the Beavers (3-3-1, 0-1) 33-9 in the first two periods.

Lorence scored at 13:32 of the third period to make it 4-0. The goal was assisted by Bethany Brausen and Jordyn Burns.

The Gophers outshot the Beavers 13-10 in the period.

It was the third shutout in the past four starts for Leveille, who had 19 saves.

On the season, Leveille, a sophomore from Kingston, Ontario, has allowed only eight goals in seven goals.

Bemidji State goalie Brittni Mowat, a freshman from Glenboro, Manitoba, had 42 saves.
