Minnesota scene: Gophers fall to Nebraska in soccer

  • Updated: October 20, 2013 - 11:49 PM

The Gophers held an advantage in shots but lost 1-0 to 22nd-ranked Nebraska on Sunday at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

The game’s lone goal came when Cornhuskers star Jordan Jackson scored her seventh of the season on a through ball by Katie Kraeutner at 23:18 in the first half. Jackson has scored in four consecutive matches.

The Gophers outshot Nebraska 20-16, including three shots on goal by freshman Simone Kolander. The loss left the Gophers at 9-5-2, 2-4-2 in the Big Ten. Nebraska is 12-3-1 and 7-1.

Gophers’ Laguna places second

Carmen Laguna closed with a 4-under par 67 — the low round of her career — and placed second overall at 1-under 212 at the 16-team Hoosier Fall Classic. The Gophers placed eighth.
