1,000-YARD CLUB VACANCY

The Gophers haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2006 (the final season under head coach Glen Mason), when Amir Pinnix had 1,272 yards. Here’s a look back at their yearly rushing leaders — among running backs — for the past decade:

Year Leading rusher Att. Yds. TD

2003 Marion Barber III 207 1,196 17

2004 Laurence Maroney 217 1,348 12

2005 Laurence Maroney 281 1,464 10

2006 Amir Pinnix 252 1,272 10

2007 Amir Pinnix 106 563 5

2008 DeLeon Eskridge 184 678 7

2009 Duane Bennett 98 376 6

2010 DeLeon Eskridge 193 698 7

2011 Duane Bennett 166 639 3

2012 Donnell Kirkwood 218 926 6

Notes: In 2003 and 2004, both Barber and Maroney topped 1,000 yards; in 2005, Maroney and Gary Russell both topped 1,000. In 2007 (Adam Weber, 617) and 2011 (MarQueis Gray, 966), quarterbacks led the team in rushing, but neither topped 1,000.
