Gophers redshirt-freshman quarterback Clint Brewster, son of head coach Tim Brewster, has decided to transfer and continue his football career.
Tim Brewster released the following statement this afternoon, with neither him nor his son available for further comment:
"Clint Brewster has decided to transfer. I respect and admire Clint's decision to further his education and play football elsewhere."
Brewster, listed at 6-1, 195, originally made a verbal commitment to Illinois, but changed his mind after his father took over as Gophers coach. There has been no word on which schools he is considering.
The Gophers are well stocked at quarterback with starter Adam Weber having three more years of eligibility. Tony Mortensen served as the backup last season as a junior.
The Gophers also have added MarQueis Gray, ranked as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks coming out of high school.
