The Gophers baseball team lost 4-3 to Kansas State on a 36-degree day Wednesday in Manhattan, Kan. The Wildcats (13-7) fell behind 3-0 after 4½ innings before scoring two runs in the fifth inning and single runs in the seventh and eighth.

First baseman Dan Olinger was 2-for-3 with a steal for the Gophers (12-9).

Awards

• Quentin Mege and Alex Brend of the Gophers were named the Big Ten's outdoor field and track athletes of the week. Mege had the top toss in the nation in the hammer throw, Brend had the conference's best time in the 800-meter run.

• South Dakota State's Megan Waytashek, a sophomore from Centennial, was named to the academic All-Summit League women's basketball team. Waytashek had a 3.96 GPA as a mechanical engineering major and was her team's second-highest scorer, averaging 13.8 points per game.

• Three players from the Minnesota Swarm won National Lacrosse League player of the week awards. Forward Callum Crawford, Jordan MacIntosh and goaltender Tyler Carlson were named the offensive, transition and defensive players of the week, respectively.

• The Lynx will play WNBA exhibition games against Washington on May 18 in Bismarck, N.D., and Connecticut on May 21 at Target Center.

• Tickets to the first Big Ten Conference men's hockey tournament March 20-22, 2014, at the Xcel Energy Center will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. An all-session ticket, available at the Xcel box office or through Ticketmaster, will cost from $80 to $160.
