St. Thomas nips No. 4 Calvin

• ST. THOMAS 64, CALVIN 62: Jenna Dockter's three-point basket with nine seconds remaining lifted the Tommies over fourth-ranked Calvin in the Division III playoffs in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Dockter's shot capped a 9-0 run for the Tommies, who held Calvin scoreless over the final 2:07. The Tommies (23-5), who pushed their winning streak to 10, advanced to Saturday's 7 p.m. game against Cornell College, which beat St. Scholastica 76-54.

• WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT 72, CONCORDIA (MOORHEAD) 64: Liz Althoff scored 28 points and Sam Barber 25 to lead the Pointers to the first-round Division III playoff victory in Indianola, Iowa. Tricia Sorensen scored 17 points and Alexandra Lippert had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Cobbers.


• The NCAA put St. Mary's men's team on four years of probation, reduced scholarships and placed other penalties on the team after the college in Moraga, Calif., committed several recruiting violations.
