COLUMBUS, OHIO - Amanda Kessel scored two third-period goals, her 39th and 40th of the season, as the Gophers rallied to beat Ohio State 5-3 on Saturday in women's hockey. This was the 38th consecutive victory for the Gophers (30-0, 24-0 WCHA).

The Buckeyes (16-12-2, 11-11-2) lost after taking a 2-1 lead after the opening period. This was the Gophers' 25th consecutive victory, and they lead the all-time series 54-8-1.

"We didn't come out the way we wanted to in the first period, but I'm proud of the kids the way they responded," coach Brad Frost said.

The Gophers took a 3-2 lead in the second period on goals five minutes apart by Maryanne Menefee and Meghan Lorence.

Kessel's first goal of the game, at 3 minutes, 3 seconds of the third period, put the Gophers up 4-2. Ohio State got within one goal again on Kara Gust's goal at 8:15, but Kessel retaliated 50 seconds later. The junior forward also had two assists.

Gophers senior Megan Bozek scored her 42nd career goal in the first period, a program record for a defenseman. Goalie Noora Raty made 23 saves.
