Bye, Radcliffe pitch no-hitter in St. Thomas' softball victory

Maria Bye and Marta Radcliffe combined on a no-hitter to pitch St. Thomas to an 8-0 victory over Ripon in the first round of the NCAA Division III softball regional on Thursday in Eau Claire, Wis

Bye pitched the first five innings and walked one and struck out six. Radcliffe pitched a perfect inning.

Bye also sparked the Tommies offensively with a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and Morgan Betker went 3-for-3 with a homer for the Tommies.

Kichii wins Medtronic

Josephat Kichii of West Chester, Pa., was the top elite male finisher in the Medtronic TC 1 Mile Thursday on Nicollet Mall. Kichii ran a 4:09 mile to beat out Haron Lagat of Santa Fe, N.M., who finished just fractions of a second behind. Jordan Fife of Bloomington, Ind., ran third at 4:10.

The top elite female was Rose Kosgei, Santa Fe, N.M., with a time of 4:37, and second was Marina Muncan, Gray, Tenn., at 4:41. Team USA Minnesota's Emily Brown of Minneapolis was third at 4:43. Another Minnesotan, Carrie Tollefson, finished fifth with a time of 4:48.

Augustus rejoins Lynx

Seimone Augustus will rejoin the Lynx today after finishing her season in the Russian Superleague with Dynamo Moscow. To make room on the training camp roster, the Lynx waived center Chloe Kerr. The training camp roster now stands at 17 players overall, with two players, Anna DeForge and Kristen Rasmussen, still out of the country fulfilling their overseas commitments.

Augustus played in 33 games overall for Dynamo Moscow in the 2007-08 season.
