Junior forward Amanda Kessel scored four goals and had an assist as the Gophers women's hockey beat North Dakota 6-3 on Friday at Ridder Arena to remain unbeaten.

Kessel scored single goals in the first and second periods and two in the third for the No. 1-ranked Gophers (21-0-0, 15-0-0 WCHA). She has 29 goals and 30 assists for a NCAA-leading 59 points.

The defending NCAA champions have a 29-game winning streak going back to last season.

Two of Kessel's teammates had four-point games. Hannah Brandt had a goal and three assists and Meghan Lorence had four assists.

The Gophers built a 5-0 lead in this game before UND rallied. But North Dakota became the first team to outshoot the Gophers this season -- 35-25 -- and scored three times in the third period. Michelle Karvinen had UND's first goal on a power play. Meghan Dufault had the other two goals at even strength.

Gophers goalie Noora Raty stopped 32 shots, 12 in the third period.

Shelby Amsley-Benzie started in the nets for UND but was pulled after the first period when she gave up two goals on eight shots. Jorid Dagfinrud made 13 saves over the final two periods.
