St. Thomas head football coach Glenn Caruso made history on Monday, becoming the first three-time recipient in the seven-year history of the national Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year program. After winning the Division III award in 2010 and 2011, he again took home the honor for 2012.

Liberty Mutual will make a $50,000 donation on Caruso's behalf, which he is giving to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; Bucky's Pride; and the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest.

St. Thomas went 14-1 this season, advancing to the NCAA D-III title game before losing to Mt. Union. Per a press release from St. Thomas, voting for the award came from a combination of fans, media and College Football Hall of Fame ballots.
