The Gophers women's hockey team broke the NCAA record for most victories in a row Saturday, routing Minnesota State Mankato 9-1 at Ridder Arena for their 22nd win a row dating to last season.

The No. 1-rated Gophers (14-0, 10-0 WCHA) were tied 1-1 with the Mavericks after the first period, but scored four goals in the second and four more in the third.

The Gophers' winning streak began Feb. 18 against North Dakota. Harvard won 21 consecutive games in 2008.
