Regional final exclusive to ESPNU

Last update: March 23, 2008 - 9:49 PM

If the Gophers men's hockey team reaches the title game of the Northeast Regional on Sunday, Comcast subscribers are going to have to make other plans in order to see the action.

That game is one of eight NCAA tournament matchups that will be carried exclusively by ESPNU. The channel, currently in 20 million homes, is not offered by Comcast, which serves much of the Twin Cities. ESPNU is available on Charter and Mediacom, which also serve large portions of Minnesota, as well as DirecTV (Ch. 609) and Dish Network (Ch. 148).

The Gophers' NCAA opener vs. Boston College at 6:30 p.m. Saturday will be produced by ESPN's syndication arm and picked up by a local channel. FSN North was in contact with ESPN on Sunday about clearing the game. The Gophers-BC matchup also will be available live on the Internet for those who receive ESPN360.com and aired by ESPNU on tape delay at midnight Sunday.
