Gophers at a glance: Minnesota, which finished alone in seventh in the WCHA,has a chance to win the Broadmoor Trophy for a second year in a row. The Gophers (19-15-9) have a season-best four-game winning streak built mostly on freshman Alex Kangas' play in the net and timely goals. Denver swept Minnesota 5-1 and 4-1 in early November at Mariucci Area. The Gophers tied the Pioneers 1-1 and lost 4-1 on the road in early February.
Pioneers at a glance: Denver (25-13-1) finished in third in the WCHA after suffering a major loss in midseason when leading scorer Brock Trotter signed with Montreal. Denver's strength is senior goalie Peter Mannino and a high-flying bunch of young forwards.
