St. Cloud State, UND post shutouts; Colorado College, Denver win big

• ST. CLOUD STATE 3, WISCONSIN 0: Jase Weslosky stopped 24 shots for the shutout and Andres Nodl had a goal and an assist as the fifth-seeded Huskies beat the sixth-seeded Badgers in a WCHA first-round playoff game on Friday night in St. Cloud.

The Huskies (18-14-5) also got goals from John Swanson in the first period and Ryan Lasch in the second. Garrett Roe had two assists for St. Cloud. Shane Connelly stopped 28 shots for Wisconsin (15-15-7). St. Cloud was 2-for-6 on power plays, while Wisconsin was 0-for-3.

The victory was SCSU's second consecutive over Wisconsin after ending a 14-game winless streak against the Badgers in the last regular-season matchup between the teams.

• NORTH DAKOTA 4, MICHIGAN TECH 0: Ryan Ducan and T.J. Oshie each had a goal and an assist as the second-seeded Fighting Sioux overwhelmed the ninth-seeded Huskies in Grand Forks, N.D.

Jean-Philippe Lamoureux made 14 saves for his sixth shutout of the season for the Sioux.

North Dakota (24-8-4) outshot Michigan Tech 14-0 in the first period. The Huskies (13-19-5) were being outshot 21-1 when Darcy Zajac gave the Sioux a 3-0 lead in the second period. Andrew Kozek completed the scoring with a power-play goal for North Dakota in the third period.

Tech goalie Michael-Lee Teslak 27 saves.

• COLORADO COLLEGE 4, ALASKA ANCHORAGE 1: Richard Bachman made 27 saves and Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist as the top-seeded Tigers beat the 10th-seeded Seawolves in Colorado Springs.

Mike Testwuide, Scott Thauwald and Scott McCulloch also scored for Colorado College (27-9-1). Jack Hillen had two assists for the Tigers.

Brad McCabe scored the only goal for Anchorage (7-20-8).

• DENVER 6, MINNESOTA DULUTH 3: Dustin Jackson scored two goals in the first five minutes of the game, and the third-seeded Pioneers went on to beat the eighth-seeded Bulldogs in Denver.

Tyler Bozak also had two goals, and Jackson added an assist for Denver (23-13-1), which got 24 saves from Peter Mannino.

After Duluth's Andrew Carroll scored in the second period to cut Denver's lead to 2-1, the Pioneers responded with goals by Matt Glasser and Bozak to pull away. Mike Curry and Josh Myers also scored for the Bulldogs (13-16-6). Alex Stalock made 22 saves.
