DUTCHMEN AT A GLANCE

East Regional results: def. Michigan State 3-1, def. UMass-Lowell 4-2.

Overview: The Dutchmen, the No. 3 overall seed, are making their first Frozen Four trip since the program moved up to Division I in 1991. .... Union won the ECAC regular-season title last year but lost to eventual champion Minnesota Duluth 2-0 in the first round of its first NCAA tournament at the highest level. ... The Dutchmen won another ECAC title this season despite changing head coaches. Bennett, a six-year assistant, succeeded Nate Leaman, who left for Providence. ... Union does not offer athletic scholarships and, like Ferris State, does not have any players taken in the NHL draft. ... Even so, the Dutchmen are 13-1-1 in their past 15 games and have won seven games in a row. ... Two key players are sophomore goalie Troy Grosenick, who has a 1.64 goals-against average, and 27-goal scorer Jeremy Walsh, a junior forward.

Midwest Regional results: def. Denver 2-1, def. Cornell 2-1.

Overview: A preseason coaches poll picked Ferris State to finish ninth out of 11 teams in the CCHA. Instead, for the second time in school history, the Bulldogs won the CCHA regular-season title and advanced to the NCAA tournament. The first time they accomplished either of those feats was in 2002-03. ... The Bulldogs had an 11-0-4 unbeaten streak in midseason and, after sweeping Notre Dame, were ranked No. 1 for the first time ever. ... Ferris State, which plays in tiny Ewigleben Ice Arena (2,493 seats), was upset by last-place Bowling Green in the CCHA quarterfinals but made the NCAA field as an at-large team and sixth seed. ... Ferris State's only two players with more than 10 goals are forwards Jordie Johnston (20-16--36) and Kyle Bonis (18-10--28). ... Goalie Taylor Nelson and defenseman Chad Billins were all-CCHA first-team picks.

Overview: The Eagles have won 17 games in a row since their 7-4 loss at Maine on Jan. 21. ... BC has three 20-goal scorers split among the top three lines. Barry Almeida has 22 on the top line as does 6-3, 225-pound Chris Kreider on the second. Johnny Gaudreau has 20 goals on the third line, the most of any freshman in Division I hockey. ... Parker Milner has become a fixture in the nets; he has a 1.11 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage in the winning streak. ... Brian Dumoulin, a 6-4, 225 junior, was named the top defensive defenseman in Hockey East this season. ... BC has one Minnesotan on its roster, Michael Sit, a freshman from Edina. He is the fourth-line center and has three assists. ... The Eagles won the Hockey East regular-season and playoff titles.

Overview: After scoring 12 goals in the West Regional, the Gophers are averaging a national-best 3.67 goals per game. ... For the first time since the 2002-03 season, four players have 40 points or more. Erik Haula has 20 goals and a team-high 48 points. He has a seven-game points streak. Freshman Kyle Rau has 18 goals and 43 points and leads the team with six game-winners and nine power-play goals. Nick Bjugstad has a team-high 25 goals and 42 points while defenseman Nate Schmidt has 38 assists and 41 points. ... Goalie Kent Patterson has started every game and has a 2.24 goals-against average, which would be the third best in program history. ... The Gophers are 14-11-2 all-time against BC. ... The Gophers won the WCHA regular-season title and were the NCAA tournament's eighth overall seed, the lowest survivor.
