KEEPING UP

The Gophers are the only Big Ten team that practices on its home court and has no plans to build a practice facility. A look at the conference competition:

Ohio State: The team has a practice gym with multiple courts attached to the $110 million Value City Arena, its home court. The school has plans to expand the practice facility in the near future.

Michigan: The Wolverines practice at Crisler Arena, their home floor. They have plans to build a $25 million-plus practice facility within the next three years.

Illinois: The Illini practice in the $5.5 million Ubben Basketball Complex.

Indiana: The school has definitive plans to build a new 67,000-square-foot practice facility, which will be completed at the end of 2008. The Hoosiers currently practice at Assembly Hall, their home arena.

Penn State: A practice court is connected to the Bryce Jordan Center, the team's home arena.

Purdue: The Boilermakers currently practice at their home arena, Mackey Arena, but the university plans to add a practice court by 2011.

Northwestern: The team practices on its main floor most of the time but also has access to another practice gym on campus. The school doesn't have immediate plans to build a practice facility.

Minnesota: The Gophers practice at Williams Arena, don't have their own practice facility and have no definitive plans to build one.

Iowa: The Hawkeyes practice on their home court, Carver Hawkeye Arena. The university has plans to build a practice facility.

Wisconsin: The Badgers practice in the 22,000-square-foot Nicholas-Johnson Pavilion, which is inside of the Kohl Center, their home arena.

Michigan State: The Spartans practice in the Alfred Berkowitz Basketball Complex, which opened in 2002. That facility features two gyms.
