Third-seeded Hamline held top-seeded St. Thomas to one hit over the final seven innings Saturday in a 4-3 victory that put the Pipers in the championship round of the MIAC baseball tournament in Minnetonka.

The Tommies bounced back later in the day with an 11-7 triumph over regular-season co-champion Macalester, earning a rematch with the Pipers at 11 a.m. Sunday. If the Tommies win, a second game will follow.

NCAA roundup • Luther ended St. Thomas' 31-game winning streak with an 11-2 victory in the NCAA Division III softball regional in Eau Claire, Wis. The Tommies will play in the losers' bracket Sunday.

• Host Minnesota State Mankato defeated Wayne State 6-0 in an NCAA Division II softball regional. MSU Mankato will play a championship game at 12:30 p.m. Sunday against Winona State ... No. 2 seed Minnesota Duluth reached Sunday's championship round of its D-II softball regional with a 1-0 victory over Regis in Sioux Falls, S.D. Megan Mullen pitched her school-record eighth shutout. UMD will face top seed Augustana.

• St. Cloud State reached the NSIC baseball championship game and will face losers' bracket survivor Winona State on Sunday in Mankato in a game that was postponed from Saturday because of poor weather.

• St. John's unseated St. Thomas and captured the MIAC men's outdoor track and field crown by four points over Hamline in St. Peter, Minn. The Tommies women edged Gustavus for the women's championship. In the NSIC, Augustana and Minnesota State Moorhead won the women's and men's titles, respectively, in Aberdeen, S.D., each with 162 points.

• Concordia (St. Paul) finished 12th in the NCAA Division II women's golf tournament in Allendale, Mich. Nova Southeastern of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., won the team title.

Lynx camp opens today The Lynx will open their 13th WNBA season with a 3 p.m. practice Sunday at Lifetime Fitness in Target Center. Training camp will last 19 days before the first Lynx game at Los Angeles on June 13. Coach Cheryl Reeve will have 14 players in camp.

Among the players are four rookies, including forward Maya Moore, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 WNBA draft who led UConn to two NCAA titles and has been touted as one of the best college players ever. Seimone Augustus and Candice Wiggins, who missed much of last season because of health issues, are both ready to play. Lindsay Whalen returns at point guard for her second season.
