Michigan State completed a three-game baseball sweep of the Gophers with a 6-4 victory Sunday in East Lansing, Mich.

The Gophers scored single runs in the first, fourth, sixth and seventh innings but lost after Jeff Holm hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh off Tom Windle for the Spartans (20-7, 5-1 Big Ten). Holm finished with three RBI.

Dan Olinger and AJ Pettersen each had three hits for the Gophers (10-12, 2-4), with Olinger driving in two runs.

Junior starter Austin Lubinsky gave up two earned runs and six hits in five innings for the Gophers, striking out four and walking none.

Sprint relay captures title at Arizona meet The Gophers men's 1,600-meter relay ran to first place Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

The foursome of Kevin Bradley, John Holton, Oladipo Fagbemi and Harun Abda clocked a season-best time of 3 minutes, 10.05 seconds.

Abda posted a career-best time in the 800, placing second in 1:48.54, the fifth-fastest time in school history.

Fagbemi also landed a career-best leap of 23 feet, 11 1/2 inches to finish fourth in the long jump.

• Sharyn Dahl and Alena Brooks recorded top-10 times in their events for the Gophers women's track team over the weekend at the Sun Angel Classic. Dahl became the sixth hurdler in Gophers history to break 1 minute in the 400-meter hurdles. Her third-place time of 59.20 seconds was the fifth-fastest in school history. Brooks placed seventh in the 800 in 2:08.18, No. 8 in school history. Brooks also anchored the 400-meter relay that finished sixth in 45.92.

U scores tennis victory Tobias Wernet, Brendan Ruddock and Michael Sicora won singles matches, and Wernet and Ruddock helped the Gophers men's tennis team sweep the doubles matches in a 4-3 victory over Purdue at the university's Baseline Tennis Center.

Sicora's win at No. 3 singles clinched the victory.

• The Gophers women's team lost 6-1 at Indiana, getting its only point when Magdalena Wiecha won by injury default.
