Sack-less in Minnesota

Last update: September 26, 2007 - 8:29 PM

The Gophers rank last in the Big Ten with three sacks through four games. Among 119 Division I-A teams nationally, only four have fewer sacks as Minnesota. And Minnesota's opponents have attempted far more passes than any of those four, giving the Gophers many more sack opportunities. A comparison of the Gophers to the teams nationally with fewer sacks:

Team Games Sacks Opponent's pass attempts

Gophers 4 3 199

North Texas 4 2 115

Navy 4 2 117

San Jose St. 4 2 119

Miami (Ohio) 4 2 143

*The Gophers are tied with Northwestern, Syracuse, Idaho and Nebraska with three sacks.
