Gophers Replay

Last update: October 21, 2007 - 10:04 PM

NORTH DAKOTA STATE 27, GOPHERS 21

Recap: The Bison overpowered the Gophers with a dominant running game and handed Minnesota its sixth consecutive loss and its first against NDSU. The Bison rushed for 394 yards, including a school-record 263 by Tyler Roehl. The Bison rolled up 585 total yards and had the ball for nearly 14 minutes longer than the Gophers, who had four three-and-out series.

UP NEXT: MICHIGAN

When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday

Records: Gophers 1-7, 0-4 Big Ten; Michigan 6-2, 4-0

The skinny: The Gophers stunned the Wolverines in their most recent trip to the Big House, in 2005, but the circumstances now are completely different. Michigan has rebounded from an 0-2 start by winning six consecutive games. The Wolverines are tied with Ohio State at the top of the Big Ten standings, while the Gophers are the only team that has not won a conference game. Wolverines tailback Mike Hart did not play in Saturday's victory at Illinois because of a high ankle sprain.

BIG TEN

SNEAK PREVIEW

NO. 1 OHIO STATE AT PENN STATE

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Records: Ohio State 8-0, 4-0; Penn State 6-2, 3-2

The skinny: This figures to be the Buckeyes' toughest test until their season-ending trip to Ann Arbor. Penn State's defense is good, but not in the same class as Ohio State's. The Nittany Lions have scored 38 and 36 points, respectively, in their past two games, but they probably won't come close to that Saturday. Penn State's defense needs to force turnovers and give its offense good field position to pull off the upset.

AIR IT OUT

So, do you like passing? If so, check out the Northwestern-Purdue game. Northwestern ranks sixth nationally in passing offense, while Purdue is 13th. Running will be optional.
