Sundance Golf and Bowl, located in Dayton, Minnesota, is a full-service facility close to the Metro area with rural rates. Located in northern Hennepin County, Sundance is easily accessible from either County Road 81 (Maple Grove) or Highway 169 (Champlin). Follow County Road 121 to 113th Avenue North (Dehn's Country Manor Restaurant is on the corner) and head west to the clubhouse.
This is a full-service facility with driving range, chipping green, putting green and pro shop. In addition, Fritzy's Sports Bar offers a full menu (Thursday is ladies night when female golfers get a free drink ticket) and there is a banquet facility that seats 275 persons. Sundance also offers a 24-lane bowling facility next door. Be sure to check the course website for online specials and rates before you go or book your tee time online.
The on-course amenities are clean and well managed. The practice areas are located adjacent to the clubhouse for easy access for walkers. The course's slope is gentle so walking is comfortable. Carts are clean and well maintained. The large clubhouse offers a congenial sports bar (Fritzy's) that offers a full menu. The clubhouse also offers a banquet facility for tournaments or private functions. The pro-shop offers the full range of services from clothing to clubs to grips. The beverage cart makes regular rounds so your thirst should be satiated.
This is a great course for hackers to hone their game. The fairways are generous in width and the hazards are well placed to reward the accurate shot but allow one to play to the opposite side of the fairways or green to avoid hazards if one doesn't trust the shot that needs to be made. We found the fairways, rough and greens to be well maintained.
Hayden Hills Executive Golf Course (also reviewed in this guide) is a couple of miles down the road. It is a short 18-hole course that can be finished in two hours and makes a good practice course to play prior to your round at Sundance. Makes for a great day of golf finished up by happy hour at Fritzy's Sports Bar.
